As I sit here drinking a beer, I had a random memory. Years ago, driving in St Louis, MO, I heard a radio ad for Budweiser beer talking about their proud history of sponsoring auto racing. The ad closed with the line “we’ve been in cars as long as we’ve been in cans.”
I had this immediate “Did they just say that?” reaction. That evening I heard the ad again, with that same line, so yes, they did just say that.
I never heard that ad again.

I remember back when Busch started putting out 12-packs in orange hunting camouflage. I actually wrote the company and asked them if they were really endorsing drinking and hunting. They replied that they were not, but I never did see those orange camo beer boxes again, at least not in my neck of the woods.

I mean... you remember it to this day , so as an advertisement, it kind of worked?

There is no such thing as bad publicity.

Immediate reaction to this image was that these were the “twisted sister” era cars where the side to side symmetry was..... Rather non-existent.
So hey, maybe there was some Budweiser in the cars back then?

I can’t handle that image in my brain.

It’s still going on, just different than before.

After Nascar finished with these you would see a bunch in arca for awhile.
Unless someone decided they needed to win and made an arca only car, they had even looser rules on symmetry

Sure, but you don't see VW or Mercedes actively advertising with photos of Hitler

I’m not sure that’s a very good analogy.
